Created using only two colours deep brown and black, this portrait explores how simplicity can hold remarkable depth.

Rather than relying on a broad palette, I focused on layering subtle tones and textures to create a face that slowly emerges, inviting the viewer to pause and look a little longer.

Its restrained colours allow the painting to settle naturally into a space while adding a quiet intensity. In a mid-century inspired interior, the rich browns and dark shadows bring warmth, contrast and a sense of permanence without overwhelming the room.

I wanted this piece to feel less like a portrait and more like a presence, one that transforms the atmosphere of a space through depth, stillness and the power of a single, lingering gaze.
